Spurred by chaos theory and the natural world’s inherent tendency toward disorganization, the picture plane in these works is used as a closed system to explore unpredictability. An allowance for disarrangement emerges as the lines in each painting become more disjointed and fragmented, their many starts and stops creating a rich visual density.
