Early oil paintings on canvas provide some of the first investigations into line and gravity. With a clear eye toward experimentation with viscosity and flow rate, marks and lines accelerate due to the effects of weight and gravitational force. These compositions set the tone for the physical, sculptural approach and the repetition and patterning that are seen throughout the work.
